What’s the PROBLEM with us???

When I was just thinking about writing something common but important subject in my blog, a scene that happened to me sometime back flashed in my mind…

Sometime back, when I was waiting for the green signal at a square, a bullock cart labor went past me, shouting at me to leave him way. I convinced myself that he is just the daily labor and he is doing this bcoz of his illiteracy and ignorance. But later when I was standing at other signal, I found many people didn’t even give a single look at the signal, before crossing it. But this time I was not able to get convinced with any excuses and felt that basically something is wrong with us…

When I started to write this post, I was asking myself many times, what is that basic thing that is wrong with us…? Is it basic education?  Common sense?  Ignorance? May be all these forms a small percentage, but the major problem is some other thing… Atlas, got hold of it… ATTITUDE…

Yes… It is our attitude… It’s the heart thing that decides our thoughts and actions… We lack a positive attitude…  We people got sticked to the habit of complaining about the problems, rather than thinking a bit towards solving it… We come to a conclusion that these things cannot be changed… We conclude this way just to avoid the contribution from ourselves to solve these kind of problems…

That is a single incident… But there are lots of such incidents happening in our daily life… We complain about power cuts… But we never ever care to even switch off the lights after using it to save electricity… we complain about corruption… But we bribe the officers to get our work done quickly or to escape from our faults… We complain about the water problem and climate… But we never think a bit to control global warming… We complain about rising fuel costs… But we never go for a walk instead of bike to reach places that can be reached by walk… we complain about the Government, politicians and officers for not performing their duty properly… But we never ever care to know what all our duties are as a citizen at least…

Complaining is very easy… It’s just about pointing the problem and blaming other people… But trying to solve it requires contribution from us… It demands some positive change from us… It needs a conscious positive attitude to be developed within us… But we are very reluctant to change ourselves… that too for a change that does not have a direct impact for us… We became more selfish that we expect a lot from other people and country for us… But we are not ready to think of giving something back to our society and nation…

If we were asked to change for some good cause, immediately we shoot these questions… “If I change, will the country change?  What is going to happen, If me alone not changing? Can you alone change this?” We people love to ask stupid questions like this… Never doubt that a small, group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world…  Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has…  We should remember that the ideology of “Ahimsa” from a man named Mahatma Gandhi and his small group of followers brought the change within billions of Indians and created a history by getting the Independence for India from British…

If we ask someone to change their mistakes, they will tell us not to be Mr. Perfect…  Isn’t being Mr. Perfect that bad????? I think that there is nothing wrong with change, if it is in the right direction… If we ask some to change, telling about the good reason for our change… They will keep on blaming us that once we were also doing the same in our past… But they fail to understand that nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending at least…

People say “these are small mistakes that people commonly do”… But these small mistakes results in big problems u know… Our careless driving may kill an innocent, which would become a lifetime blow for that innocent’s family…  Our carelessness in saving power, water, trees, disposing wastes contributes to one of the World’s biggest problems “Global Warming”… We bribe people to get ourselves out of our own faults… But it is also contributing towards corrupting the system…

Here we people resist change… Only just to resist being changed… Actually we people are the real enemies for our nation and not those people who do not shout for India in India-Pakistan cricket match… Nothing we can do to change the past, but everything we do changes the future… We love and really to want to see the World, our nation, our environment, our society, our people to be good… But to see this change, we need to follow one of my favorite saying of Gandhiji… “Be the change you want to see in the world…”

So friends… Change does not come abruptly from us… It needs a very conscious effort from us… The first step toward change is awareness… And the second step is acceptance… I think many people here are aware of the change that has to be made within us… But we resist accepting it… Let us develop the attitude of accepting the positive change and spreading awareness among the ignorant people…

My request to you all… Change your attitude, think positively; the world can change if we change. Change is the only permanent thing in this world… The development of a nation is in the interest of the individual… So lets us move towards a healthy change… Let us wait for the green signal, when crossing the square

  • Let us follow the road traffic rules to save innocent lives
  • Let us save electricity, water, trees, paper and reduce pollution and plastic usage to fight against global warming
  • Let us not bribe any one at any cost to fight against corruption
  •  Lets stop using the motor bikes & cars unnecessary to save fuels and reduce pollution
  • Lets educate the ignorant and illeterate people about these subjects

Atlas, I would like to write some great people’s quotes that would inspire us to make a changes within us…

  • “Nothing is permanent but change”
  • “Be the change you want to see in the world” – Mahatma Gandhiji
  • “Everything changes, nothing remains without change” – Buddha
  • “You cannot change your destination overnight, but you can change your direction overnight”
  • “Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself”
  • “That’s the risk you take if you change: that people you’ve been involved with won’t like the new you. But other people who do will come along.”
These are my perceptions and thoughts… I welcome your valuable thoughts and suggestions….
